Butterfly collage with haiku

Earlier this year, I wrote a haiku about butterflies. I think it started with one of my kids doing them in school and I was feeling like I needed to start stretching my wings and encouraging myself. So six months later (?) I decided to use my haiku to embellish some art. Last month I made a trading card which sold right away on Ebay and this week I made some bigger 6 x 6 in paintings. I wrote a second haiku poem about butterflies which I'll use to make some companion pieces, but here are the first two.

If you are interested, I just added a bunch of artwork and digital downloads of art I've created to my Etsy store, including these two pieces.

Cape Cod Watercolor + Collage

I am back from spending two weeks with my family in MA inspired and ready to focus on painting and nurturing my Etsy store.

One of the weeks I spent with my sister's family on Cape Cod and we had gorgeous weather. I snapped lots of photos to use as inspiration and here is a mini landscape (2.5 x 3.5") I made yesterday. I make the collage paper I use with acrylic paint on rice paper.

Today I started two different companion collage pieces based on another ATC that I made earlier this summer and I hope to share them later this week. My problem is Artistic ADD. There are so many things swimming around in my head that ..... squirrel!

Tidal Pool

I've been playing around "practicing", trying to let my style evolve. This is one I'm happy with.

Illustration Friday "Carry"

Here's my little dragon guy again carrying his stuff to the beach. (I'm still thinking about what to name him. Suggestions?)

Dragon character study

One of my summer goals is to get the book dummy finished for this story that my sister and I wrote (ahem, a while ago...but great ideas have to percolate, right?)

I'm making steady progress and am happy with my direction. I was anxious to paint one of these little guys so here he is!

Semi Abstract Figures in Watercolor

This is a painting I did with the All Events Media group on Wetcanvas. I took a semi abstract approach to explore shape and color inspired by Carla O'Connor. It was actually pretty exciting. Now I'm going to start another one.
