So many things you can do with "beginner". The first thought that popped into my head was music lessons, this was #2 and I decided to go with it.
Someday I hope to figure how to get my thumbnail sized correctly for the IF Blog. Does anyone else have trouble with this? I've done everything I can think of, followed directions online and they still come out bigger than 15K even when they 72 dpi and 50 x 50 pixels. ?? I'm taking my question to a Photoshop expert tomorrow night but in the meantime I really wanted to post this before Thursday. :) Have a super week!

This is a fantastic piece, perfect for 'beginner'...
Love it, Kathy...I think I even see him shivering.
Hey Kathy!! Fabulous!!! Music was my first thought too... But i went with my #2 too. Love his pose. So unsure ;o) After you size your pic to 50X50 pixels.... instead of “save as” under file, click on “save for the web”. It automatically makes your illo 72 dpi and more compatible for the web. I hope this helps.
I went with a beginning swimmer too! On the thumbnail issue, make sure you're saving for web after you get the other numbers right. That's a mistake I made. Oops, I see Jack already said that!
Perfect and precious moment!
Very cute. I like the feel of your watercolors.
Very cute! And I'm no help at all with computers.
Hi Kathy! Nice drawing.
I hope I can help you. The file size basically depends on image size (pixels) and file format / compression ratio. When I take your original and resize it to 50x50 pixels, I can't achieve even with highest JPG quality more than 3KBs. The only thing probably going wrong that you don't really resize, just lower DPI.
You don't even need Photoshop, I would recommend you trying the free FastStone Image Viewer. You just open the image, press CTRL+R and it's done in seconds.
Best wishes
Thank you all so so much! Hopefully my next IF will have a nice little avatar.
Great character!
I enjoyed looking at your watercolors. You have a nice range of style - from serious nature to whimsical animals. They're all so good ... my favorite is Journey. I especially like the pose in the lower right corner.
Wow! I just commented on your safari illustration - and now I just saw this beginner one - another time we were thinking alike! Nice work!
