Bench Update

I'm 95% finished with the front of the Airplane bench and started working on the back on Tuesday. The back is going more quickly and I hope to have the whole bench completed by Friday. :)

Another daffodil ACEO

I went to a watercolor workshop over the weekend given my friend Katrina Methot-Swanson and learned more about how she builds up glazes of watercolor. It was a great learning experience so I had to try it out on an art card. (in between painting my bench of course. I will put more bench pictures up soon.)

Bench update

On Thursday I put in a couple of hours on the front of my bench refining the face of the boy on the front. I have worked out my skin colors and am starting to get used to the new acrylics. I couldn't resist getting this picture with my cat, Juliet, sitting on the bench. (She's allowing me to use her basement to paint this.)

Plains to Planes Project

I'm three days into painting my first bench for the Sarpy County Nebraska Plains to Planes Project. Here are a few progress photos. I painted part of the airplane with silver paint and my husband and I decided it was too flat and tacky looking so yesterday I painted it gray. I'm still working on flesh tones for the figures. I think it looks too hot right now so I'll be making some changes and softening the skin.

For this project, I decided to try Chroma Atelier acrylics. They are marketed as being blendable like oils. It's been ages since I painted in oils but as long as you keep your mist bottle handy, I agree that they are easier to work with than traditional acrylics.

Flower of the Month - Daffodil

I had a beautiful selection of daffodils bloom this spring and took lots of pictures. Here is my third daffodil art card (2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches). Scroll down to see the other two.
